This design was a collaboration between my granddaughter, KM, and myself. She painted two birds and half a sun silhouetted on a small piece of wood, which was cut to about a foot long, with a 45 degree angle cut out of one end of the piece of wood. Using the original wood grain, she painted a gradient of red across the bottom edge of the wood, to imitate a sunset. Because of the small size of the piece of art, I tiled it many times and digitally manipulated it into this lovely distressed wood mosaic. The design does tile seamlessly at its borders, but the borders of the wood were not erased as they are part of the aesthetic appeal or effect of the design. This design has a rustic look to it, and makes a very lovely wallpaper or duvet cover. Due to the design brief calling for neutral colors, we did not feel the original piece fit the brief for this challenge. Although it is a lovely wallpaper, the digital manipulations did alter the original piece of art so it is barely recognizable. A design with the original piece of art, Sunset & Silhouettes Art Collaboration has also been added to my shop, and is really quite lovely in and of itself.
