Hope. He planted vegetables.
Zacharias Wagner was the first Wagner in South Africa. He came from Dresden in Germany. He was an amazing adventurer and illustrator. He drew what he saw and we now have recorded an interesting window into South Africa in 1662. The year he was governor to the cape. He worked for the VOC shipping company and had to provide the sailors with much needed fresh vegetables. We should all learn from him and get out and plant vegetables. These are painted in water colour copied from my ancestors of old. Butternut and red peppers, best roasted veg ever!
