the milk of life, and papyrus stalks, on "linen."
Egyptian Goddess Hathor is linked with many womanly attributes such as nurturing, motherhood and love, as well as joy, fertility, the sky, and the underworld. She’s incredibly versatile and powerful, and her many facets contribute to her talent in helping people overcome personal dilemmas. Hathor’s sankalpa affirmation is, “Choosing joy brings me closer to wholeness.” My mandala for Hathor begins in the center with her sun disk/cow horns headdress, encircled by sycamore trees which are dripping the milk of life to fertilize the land, one of Hathor's most potent symbols. The papyrus stalks are also associated with Hathor; apparently there are numerous ancient images of women holding and shaking papyrus stalks in honor of the Golden One. The background is an homage to the flax linen Egyptian artisans were so famous for.
