As a kid, going to the beach always meant Lake Michigan for me. Usually most of the city beaches that we would visit would have a pier and a lighthouse nearby. My dad sometimes would take us fishing off the pier. We would get to use live bait like minnows and crayfish. A few of the lighthouses which inspired this design are St Joseph, The Holland Harbor Lighthouse, Grand Haven, White River Light Station, Little Sable Point, Big Sable Point, Manistee, Frankfort, Point Betsie and Luddington. We went to Luddington a lot; the beach is huge and there are tall metal slides right on the beach in the sand. We would often burn our backsides on the hot slides since we only had swimsuits on. Originally, I envisioned my design on little swim trunks or surf tops, but after playing with mockups I think it looks great as wallpaper as well.
