Constable painted in 1819 during the Regency era.
This was the first of a series of 6-foot paintings by Constable and considered to be one of his favorites. It was his first painting to sell for a large sum of money and brought him the permeate recognition of the Royal Academy. It was many that included the River Stour and Vlley as the area he loved and grew up in.
