About the Design

Wonky brass instruments: french horn, euphonium, cornet and trombone.

When I was younger I played euphonium in a brass band and every May we used to arrive in Saddleworth, near Manchester, for the Brass Band Extravaganza of the year: The Whit Friday Marches. Lots of brass bands would arrive in each village, get out of their band coach, march along playing their marching test piece, arrive at the village centre stage and perform a show piece which was usually much better as marching and playing is extremely difficult. It's all in the hips and got better (or worse) as the day went on as stopping at the village pub after each performance was inevitable!!! There were about 12 villages to get through and around 50 brass bands competing. Lots of fun!
