Maryland's historic state flag is taken from the heraldic banner of the founding family of Maryland, the Calverts. Its bright colors, graphic patterns and distinctive look make it perfect for everyone to know at a glance that you're a fan of Maryland or from Maryland. This fabric, with cut lines incorporated into the fabric, is ready to be made into pennants. Simply cut along the lines, fold over the top about a half an inch, iron, and then sew (or staple!) onto a cord or string. If you want to be fancy, you can use pinking shears to cut the pennants. With regular scissors, the edges will gradually fray, especially if they're outside. Be sure to leave a foot or so of cording at each end to you can hang these. The flags will cut into one full black and gold, one full red and white and one that's half and half. You can place them any way you want. Each flag measures 11 inches across the top and 14 inches long. A yard of the fabric will make about 16 pennants.
