This design is of standard 36-spoke bicycle wheels, with the usual triple-cross linkage, reduced to silhouette form. The template was constructed to scale (from my own bicycle) and then carefully oriented and positioned for triad symmetry. Currently displaying a 3-layer version in a subset of Spoonflower's retro surfing contest palette.
