This design is a chess murder tableau. The king lies dead on the chequered tiles. A pawn is discovered standing directly over the body but all of the other likely suspects (queen, knight, rook/castle and bishop) were also found within range to deliver the fatal blow. Circumstantial evidence at the scene of the crime eliminates suicide from consideration. So, whodunnit? Which of the other chess pieces actually killed the king? Currently displaying a vertical repeat in simple black on white. However, other orientations or colours are available on request. Eg a conveniently blood-red mahogany and ivory (like many old chess sets) or even multi-coloured pieces.
