The 5 great lakes are considered vast fresh water seas. As such, many shipping routes run through the lakes because they are all connected. Some of the coastlines are rocky and hazardous. Hence all the many and beautiful lighthouses found on all five great lakes. Many of these lighthouses were build in the early 1800's and most if not all have some sort of haunt or ghost story attached.
