seaweed snack at dawn as she watches the sun rise.
This is my entry for Spoonflower's Cryptozoology Challenge scheduled for March 18, 2021. Cryptozoology was a term I had never heard until this Challenge was announced. Merriam-Webster defines the term as "the study of and search for animals and especially legendary animals (such as Sasquatch) usually in order to evaluate the possibility of their existence." Nessie, of Loch Ness fame, is a creature of this sort who has always captured my imagination. I based this design on a little oil painting I did for my brother Paul years ago. His wife is of Scottish heritage so before I gave him the painting I added a tiny little version of Nessie . . . and her baby . . . to the painting. For this challenge I added a large Nessie, enjoying a seaweed snack. In a version this size a Nessie aficionado might enjoy the design printed on a throw blanket, a duvet cover or as an accent wall. It could also make a fun quilt border. In a smaller size it would join a category I call "fine art checks," and would be fun for an unusual shirt, blouse or skirt. Or how about a tote bag, or pillow cases? If you want another size, just ask! Copyright - Mary Beglau Wykes - March 8, 2021
