kinnikinnick (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) is a type of bearberry that grows in the Pacific Northwest. It's common name is a first nations word meaning 'Smoking Mixture'. It's latin name means 'Grapes of the Bear'. Native Americans and early pioneers smoked the dried leaves and bark alone or mixed with other herbs, tobacco or dried dogwood bark in pipes. The fruits are used as seasoning, cooked with meat and made into jelly. This non-directional design is available in multiple print sizes in my design library. You can find these and more in the 'Pacific Northwest' collection in my shop.
