There is a story that biologist J. B. S. Haldane, when asked about God, said that if a creator exists he has "an inordinate fondness for beetles." In this design, I share images of a few of the beetles that I've photographed in central Virginia. Beetles included: mottled tortoise beetle (Deloyala guttata), six-spotted Neolema (Neolema sexpunctata), six-spotted tiger beetle (Cicindela sexguttata), grapevine beetle (Pelidnota punctata ), Judolia cordifera, Japanese beetle (Popillia japonica), margined leatherwing beetle (Chauliognathus marginatus), Virginia metallic tiger beetle (Tetracha virginica), goldenrod soldier beetle (Chauliognathus pensylvanicus), pigweed flea beetle (Disonycha glabrata), and big-headed ground beetle (Scarites subterraneus)
