I wanted to try the same thing: it is much harder than it looks! Asanoha mon (The Hemp Leaf Pattern) The mon of the Maru-ni-Asanoha family represents a stylized hemp leaf pattern. According to some, the plant symbolizes the power of growth (hemp being one of the most vigorous annual plants) and probably for this reason, the pattern is often used on babies' kimonos.
