doll named Jemima! © Nancy Lee Moran
The doll-pockets are about three inches high. The background is light warm gray. The small-size repeat is 5.5 x 8 inches, in half drop. Wallpaper size is about 4 x 6 inches, in half drop. When Spoonflower held a "Pockets" challenge in February 2022, at first I was searching my memory for dress patterns with pockets, to use as inspirations. Then I remembered that Marsha of Hankie Couture fame had sewn a dress for me in 2014, using my new fabric of "Lavender Whispering Daydreams" (cotton poplin) - a dress with adorable pockets. The pockets have bows made from my fabric of "Plum Dots for Lavender Whispering Daydreams." Whispering Daydreams was based on dolls of Rose (bbflockling) Lacefield, drawings that I had made with her permission. I have a small doll of hers, Jemima Cricket in "Honey" skintone (size 17 cm, 6.7 inches). My favorite thing to put into a pocket would be a tiny doll. I tucked the doll, therefore, into the pockets to take new photos in natural window light. Then I used "Lavender Whispering Daydreams" as a background for this new design. People (including me!) like the joyful spirit of Rose (bbflockling) Lacefield's dolls and her stories that go with them. To my delight, Rose granted me permission to draw from her photos of her petite creations. I added whimsical touches to match the mood of her dolls, my own decorations of flowers, scrolls, magic stones and mushrooms. For three months I was patiently drawing with colored pencils of blue and brown to make this design in honor of my first grandchild. Delightful hand-drawn fairy tales art, a collaboration of two artists © Nancy Lee Moran The figures (in the background) are TWO inches tall. It also comes in one-inch and four-inch figure sizes. See “Whispering Daydreams” Collection on Spoonflower. http://www.spoonflower.com/collections/88338 IMPORTANT Since I (Nancy Lee) drew the design with colored pencils, it has light and dark variances, which in no way reflect uneven printing by Spoonflower. For the best detail, choose a fine-weave, smooth fabric. I recommend getting a sample first.
