"Cinderella and a Mouse Called Fred" is Deborah Hopkinson's unorthodox take on the familiar tale, here told from the point of view of Fred, the mouse who (transformed temporarily into a horse) pulls Cinderella's pumpkin coach to the prince's palace. The small scale of this pattern prevents you from seeing all of the humor in the drawings, but you might get an inkling. This Cinderella is interested in pumpkin farming, and really not at all in princes.
