in full bloom and one is fading. So poignant!
You may view the painting on which this design was based here: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/rose-duo-mary-wykes.html Once upon a time, when I lived in Texas, I had an amazing antique rose garden. I had always wanted to live in the country and when my husband told me that was never going to happen, I told him the yard was mine. I told him I was going to turn our yard into a botanical garden. I went out that very day and started digging up our yard. Over the years it became well known in the neighborhood and I was known as La Señora de las Rosas (The Rose Lady). I loved to go out into the yard early in the morning and just walk around and see what was especially lovely that day. I am so glad I have those photos and like to use them as references for paintings. Voilá! That is how THIS design began. 7 or 8 years ago I created an acrylic painting of two roses and today I have used a reflection of almost the entire painting. Here on Spoonflower I was then able to create what is called a "half drop" repeat. Combining an oil, watercolor or acrylic painting with digital effects is my favorite form of mixed media. You will find various designs derived from the same painting in the full collection. If YOU prefer a different size, please ask. I will get it right up for you.
