Believe it or not, the original (lighter) colorway was inspired by the drapes the queen chose for her bedchamber: surprisingly springy, happy hues of pink, lime green and periwinkle. In the late 1700s in France, I would've expected almost everything to be gilded and paneled.
This design has flowers, birds and leaves and a subtle woven texture. After looking at it for a day, I decided it needed a dark background... I like it much better!
