geometric elements.
These stripes evolved from the Four Square Geometric Hybrid Nuggets Design I submitted for Spoonflowers Nugget Couch Challenge in March of 2020. What I love about the challenges is the way they encourage me to try new things, experiment with new points of view. I find it fascinating how the way I perceive the design changes, depending on how close I am to it. At a distance I am most aware of the bands of color and the Lamé curves that are formed by the outside edge of the circles, in the space between them. The shape formed by these concave lines creates a shape known as a superellipse. If I am close up, I am more aware of the circles, with their bands of color and the smaller squares within each curving stripe. I imagine myself playing a game with a young child, asking them to locale different shapes and colors. These stripes would work well for a lively splash of color anywhere you would appreciate a bold design. I would probably use them in a kitchen, a den or a playroom. Smaller versions (coming soon!) would make a sporty summer shirt, or add a nice border to a quilt. ASK if you need another size before the collection is complete, and I'll get it up ASAP. copyright - Mary K Wykes - March 7, 2020
