linear and geometric elements.
These stripes evolved from the Four Square Geometric Hybrid Nuggets design I submitted for Spoonflower's Nugget Couch Challenge in March of 2020. What I love about the challenges is the way they encourage me to try new things, experiment with new points of view. The largest size of this red and pink version, though colorful, has a soothing quality for me. I think it is because of the flowing quality of the design. I imagine it as a lovely duvet cover, or a border for a quilt. It would also make a great throw blanket in Minky or the Fleece. I actually love it as an accent wall as well - perhaps for a playroom, or a child's room. And of course it makes a lovely throw pillow, adding a splash of color in a space you would like to brighten up. Only your imagination will limit how you use the smaller versions - which are coming soon! There will be a range of 4 sizes. In the meantime, just ASK if you need another size NOW, and I'll get it up ASAP. I find it fascinating how the way I perceive the design changes, depending on how close I am to it. At a distance I am most aware of the bands of color and the Lamé curves that are formed by the outside edge of the circles, in the space between them. The shape formed by these concave lines is known as a superellipse, though I tend to think of it as a modified diamond shape. If I am close up, I am more aware of the circles, with their bands of color and the smaller squares within each curving stripe. I imagine myself playing a game with a young child, asking them to locate different shapes and colors. copyright - Mary K Wykes - March 7, 2020
