PPE. Quarter 18" =one 2-sided face mask
This is not a surgical filter, and no guarantees are offered. It is intended to partially block airborne spray from sneezing and coughing. You may insert interfacing, gauze, chiffon, or batting for extra filter-- just make sure you can breathe! Wash and dry between wearings. Pre-wash fabric for shrinkage. (Avoid detergent with perfumes, as you will need to breathe through this several hours and might find yourself allergic.) To check sizes, cut a paper towel over one shape. Test fit on your face, adjust accordingly. Cut to fit. If you don't have elastic, you may use ties, doubled-over from printed stripes, shown. Four curved pieces will be left-right, and back-front. 1. Cut 7” elastic (1/8" -ish) twice, and knot each end.. or loop 22" elastic through ends, and tie. Folded wire can feed the elastic through sewn parts. If sewing ties, measure each 20" past the edge of mask. 2. Cut 9x6" for adult, 7.5 x 5" for child 3. Put right sides of fabric together 4. Baste knotted elastic onto corners, with knot on wrong side of fabric... or plan how to loop a single piece through. 5. Sew pieces together, reinforcing stitches to hold elastic in place. 6. At the bottom. leave 2” open. Turn inside out. 7. Pin 3 tucks on left and right sides, same direction 8. Sew around edge of the mask twice. Pleats optional. 9. You may want to add twist ties or thin wire near the nose, for bendable structure. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
