About the Design

A popular Victorian floral pattern from the famous arts and crafts designer William Morris and his

talented apprentice John Henry Dearle in 1896.

John Dearle, who managed Morris and Company's block printing operations at Merton Abbey was the person who succeeded Morris as director of the company. Compton was actually created for the famous Compton Hall near Wolverhampton. Tulips and poppies are woven into a rich, flowing pattern, offered here in a remake of one of the original Victorian wallpaper colors. Message us for resizing requests.
