Rosette or rose shaped orbits occur when a body (red sphere) orbits around an attractor (yellow sphere) and the force pulling the body to the attractor is inversely proportional to its distance from the attractor (proportional to 1/r). Because the force gets stronger the closer the body gets, it speeds up as it approaches the attractor (the pink tracer dots are further apart near the attractor).
